29th Street - Oil on Board 9" x 12"
I was going to do the alley yesterday but decided to do the front street instead. It was complicated because there was a party going on two doors down and the street parking kept changing...these are the problems you face when you plein air paint!

Hi. I'm wondering why you chose this location. It was challenging because of the party, but what was it about the street? It is so different from the Lake Powell paintings. It is fun to see that you move around, painting a number of very unique scenes.
Hi Melinda, I chose the 29th Street location because it is the street where I live. It was getting late in the day and I wanted to paint something but didn't have time to go find a place so I said, what the heck, go outside and paint. For me it isn't always about some great inspiration although I do try to find inspiration in the scenes I pick. When all is said and done, it is more that I just love to paint so I will paint just about anything. There is also challenges. I like to challenge myself with a variety of scenes. When I do things I am not totally comfortable with, I learn so much more.
Yes! I totally agree. Painting is the thing, not necessarily the subject. As I look again at the 29th ST. scene and then the landscapes that follow, I notice that there is a playfulness in your rendering of the manmade elements. I see this when you paint people and interiors. Your landscapes have a kind of respect even as you express the joy of the place you're painting.
I am an artist living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I enjoy the light of the area, beautiful clouds and sunsets. I paint landscapes, figures and still life but primarily landscapes. Weather permitting, I prefer painting outdoors. Once I have a good field sketch, I will take that back to the studio to make a larger version. I paint every day and try to post something new here or on my website as often as possible. You can also see a full compliment of my work at my website, http://www.landscapepainting.us. Feel free to email me with any questions you might have at dagostinofineart@gmail.com. Thanks for looking!
